I was preparing myself for the essay exam at NUM and I tried to warm up myself by writing three possible topics for the exam. I decided to post them to share to you guys:
================================= Advertisement on Television
Advertising is marketing weapon. Its main purpose is to inform targeted customers. The company may wants to try advertisement on different means of media but the television has become the most acknowledgeable way of information distribution. Advertising spots can be found in every TV channels. While many people enjoy the view of those advertisements, some does not appreciate its presence on televisions. For those who support its motive, believe in the benefits the advertising spot provides, whereas the anti-advertisement sides insist that it is only a waste of space. To find out which one is more appropriate, this essay will discuss the issue.
For the supporting side, people do want to subscribe with the advertisement. They feel that they really want to learn more about certain products. Furthermore, time saving has been taking into account for the benefit of advertising. Due to some business condition, people find themselves surrounded by works and assignments, leaving them little time to learn more about new products, or even the old products. Thus, advertisement is helpful to these busy people. For example, the rapid update and upgrade of cell phone models have been concerns of most people due to the lacks of means of information distributions. Therefore, they rely on the television which always provides news about phone companies. To sum up, advertisement is really needed to be shown on television.
However, advertising can be a disturbing scene on television. Some spots are indeed noisy and useless. They lead the audience to nowhere. These kinds of scenes are not welcomed by many people who wish for their removal from the channels. The most concerning problems about these undesired advertising spot is of its messages and pictures provision. They condemn that the actual purpose of those spots is to brainwash. Sometimes, the spots come right in the middle of someone’s favourite program, causing madness aroused. Such programs like football match live coverage, some TV channels decide to show advertisement scene while the game is still in play, and most football supporters do not enjoy these kinds of practice. Thus, advertisements should not be viewed on TV channels because of its nature of interruption.
To conclude, advertisement has both advantages and disadvantages. On the bright side, advertisements is extremely helpful for those who in search of quick information and learning. On the other hand, it can be a total disaster to TV viewers. For my point of view, as long as the TV programs director carefully control the schedules of advertising spots, there would not be any interruptive scenes emerge. Thus, I strongly support for the continuing of presenting advertisings on television.
