I just look up in my history book  Grin

Angkor Wat was built between 1113 and 1150 by King Suryavarman II. Angkor Wat can be said as an Hindu Temple which means that the the center of it represents Mount Meru, home of the gods. the outer walls, the mountains enclosing the world; and the moat, the oceans beyond. Some documents state that Angkor Wat is the King’s tomb that is why it was built to the West, while other said that it is a defending strategy from the outside enemy (Siem).  Grin I want all you guy discuss more about this great building.

That's very good that you want to bring out a discussion about this topic, Ramin. Actually, we usually hear that King Suryavarma II was the one who built it, yet we might forget that the Angkorian era started from 802. It was King Jayavarman II who first lay the foundation. Therefore, the next work was handed to the next kings who reigned the whole country. Smiley

Yeah, He was really great. The biggest achievement is that He can reunite the whole country and form an empire. Some historian called Cambodia during this period the Third Superpower in Asia after China and India. I wish we can have this lovely history back to now.  Smiley

I just wanted to make it clear that King Jayavarman II is the founder of the ERA not the city or the construction.
