I think my new topic about MODAL VERB ain't interesting at all. That's no one reply to mine!

But please ye remember that the most difficult and complicated use of English-usage is the MODAL VERB na!!!

Does it is the solitary DREAM?

Please look at the following sentence:

If you will talk over the Modal verb problem, I will be over the moon to share and get some notions.

Speak your mind, does the above sentence RIGHT or WRONG and give the reason pong na!!!!!!!!!!

JUPI it is yet your turn!!!

Note that the First Conditional Sentence is: If+S+V1+(compement),
S+will+ Bare Infinitive+(complement) or S+will+ Bare Infinitive+(complement) If+S+V1+(compement)

Hi Kimlong  Smiley

First of all, I concede that I'm not really clear about that kind of verb. But I can see the different usage between some of them. For example, WILL expresses willingess, certainty, prediction, insistence and so on.

Second of all, in your sentence:

Quote
If you will talk over the Modal verb problem, I will be over the moon to share and get some notions.
Speak your mind, does the above sentence RIGHT or WRONG and give the reason pong na!!!!!!!!!!

I can't see any problem with it except does the above sentence RIGHT or WRONG? and give the reason pong na!!!!!!!!!! , which is grammatically incorrect and the word pong na. I can't find it in Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary and even in http://onelook.com/. Perhaps it is a Khmer English, I think.

Last of all, thanks for pointing out this topic. And I hope our 5steps friends won't overlook it any more.

Just some ideas

Hi Kimling & Jupiter Cheesy ,

Now, please let me speak my mind. I'm not pretty good at using modal verbs. I'm not quite sure about usages of the modal verbs. But I'm still finding out more usages of them.

As fas as I have gathered, they are : can, could, will, would, shall, should, may, might, must, need, dare, used to, ought to.

Modal verbs, as a rule, has particular characteristics.
1. It takes a verb without "to" or bare infinitive.
2. It shows a particular manner, for example, 'can' shows ability.
3. When it's negative, 'not' is used after it. When it's interrogative, the modal verb is used in front of the subject.

"If you will talk over the Modal verb problem, I will be over the moon to share and get some notions." can be used. You used "will " in the subordinate clause to show "politeness".

"Is the above sentence right or wrong?" is right. I think this mistake was made by chance. There's no problem.

Hope to get feedback from you all.

THanks you very much ideed for participate in my topic, Mala.

Now i have found that there are only thee and Jupi who first response to my questions.

And esp. i am walking on the air when you release your ideas out.

However, thou still confuse the meaning of the the word WILL in the sentence above. It is not express the politeness but willingness.

Eventually, i still thank for thy notions, Mala, and some hints of using MODAL. And Jupi thank for your correction. Now i know that you are a careful-reading person in that you oft-times find a very small mistake of everyone.

Have funsssssssss!

Kimlong

Hey Jupi please go and see thy final exam result. It hath been revealed this morning.

I spend a lot time discussing language issues with teachers, both on the internet and at work, and modal verb usage is an issue that comes up all the time- people who have been teaching for years are still asking questions about some of the ways we use them.  You will probably be learning to use them in different ways for as long as you study English.  That doesn't have to be seen as a bad thing- they are so complex because the are able to do so many things, carry so many subtle meanings and differences. :-)

I was confused about that. Thanks. Could you please tell me the correct one.

I always learn modal verbs from their usages with examples and practice them.

Thanks!

Hi Kalyan, Mala and ye-all here!

thanks for participate in my topic.

Hey Kalyan, if ye have any question about this please ask in a specific question. In the even that thou don't clearly state yours, I and others members cannot get the hange of answering yours.

Mala, thou said "Could you please tell me the correct one" I can't put my finger on what you ask.

I think you ask for the right answer of sentence above, right?

If so the answer is WILLINGNESS not POLITENESS as i have already mentioned.

Thanks anyway!!
