I'm really excited to be here. well, I'm kinda run out of idea when this question appeared. I'm always asking myself how much i can improve with self-study. Usually, i get bored with what my teachers have taught because it's what i have studied with my ex-teacher.I don't only want to be self-study but also study with teacher because i think that i can have some chances to ask them when i don't understand. On the contrary, most teachers don't like to be asked out side the lesson. I don't think that i can increase my knowledge by just sitting in classroom and self-study .  I do exercise on some grammar books, toefl, but i don't find any increase in my learning style.Any suggestion for me?

hi everyone, I'm the new member of this fantastic webside.
i think i understand how you feel when you try hard to study,
yet you don't find yourself improve in it. In this point,
you should keep on trying, as the previous advices that you
should try to enjoy studing with it. you are not making the
lemone out of the lemonade. definitely, you will realize yourself
better later, just some people need more time than the others.
best wishes,
mouyly.

Cool Cool CoolHey! Why not?
I think that studying with teacher at school is very good. It gives you 60% of lesson that you've studied. But if you want to complete it you must study by your self. 40% of lesson is self-study.

From my point of view self-study or self-starter means very much to contribute to the improvement in any subject areas.

I bet you will surely amaze if you can make it within 3 month of self-study as a routine.

For sure, you are going to be mastered in your subject selection.

Have a good one,

Self-study is very important. I dare say that as I get to this point today becasue of self study, especially reading and grammar. Class study helps much with writing and speaking. My listening improves not becuase academic activities but by listening to something fun like songs, radio or TV shows, and movies.

Just experience to share.

I think between self-study and studt at class, study at class is far more better:

1. Khmer proverb "Frog inside the well" wants to denotes that people should go to more open world rather than sitting inside his/her own place
2. Class activities are practical, and improving English requires many practices.
3. In classroom there is competition, so...

but self-study is also helpful.

There certain type of studies that will most likely affect your study. So consider the one that works best for yourself. People learn and look at things differently.

All things combine together for good works in you. I am personally can't even define the best way of learning yet. That's why i found this forum is the best place to learn and share with you guys.

The success tip is in every part of your study including in class and the real world. You know what i mean. As for me, I don't like self-study so much. I learn most by reading only, but not a particular subject at all. It's vary from day to day.

Some people can stay at the table to do their home works. But for some groups of people can't make it happen. It is like me. So, it is depend whether you are able to do the self-study or not. It is very important that you know yourself. Then you know where you can go from today and make your own destiny.

The same for study guide. If you know you need to fill up the hole then you hit the point. I admit that is not enough yet. It does not cover all the areas that need to be covered. Lay down your foundation knowledge to discover more...

Best of luck,
