There are 3 best ways to improve knowledge in English.

1) Read
2) Read
3) Read

  Wink The more you read, the more you learn;  Everyone will have their own interesting topic; For ex, for me, Sports are very interesting.  When I take any newspaper first I open the sports page and read it.

Find out your interesting area, read newspaper daily; read all news related to your interesting topic; never worry about new words; just read and u'll grasp the meaning automatically;

participate in discussions, listen to speakers, after doing this for about three months; start reading novels

the best novel i would suggest is Sherlock Holmes stories; read novels of your interest - thriller, romance, suspence whatever;

when i ask you read that means read the topic in which you have interest.

All the best,
Sarath

Yeah! That's great! Grin However, if you just read and never use other parts of yourself such as ears, mouth, hands and brain; what will happen? To my idea, try to use all the skills. I know you know what are they. For me I like listening because it's easy to learn. Different people have different ways to success so choose the one best for you! Huh Ha? What is the best for you then?

yes, Chesda!! i agree with you 100%... but i dont know what's Vichea's current state of understanding and knowledge of English.  But I would like to inform you that the benefit you get more on reading is always greater than listening.  You can opt for listening when you are about to master.  It comes in the Intermediate stage.  At basic level, the more you read the great books, the more you can understand and use the constructs in your sentences.

The magic of reading is --- if you read more, you will automatically talk in English without grammatical mistakes; our brain grasps the structure of sentences we studies mostly and we never make mistakes.  I'm not sure whether this can be applicable to all; but this is my observation with many students; as a teacher of secondary school English students, i experimented in many ways to teach them; i just dont try to teach grammar to inject rules, practise exercises and blah blah blah... i want to be practical and i do lots of experiments with students to sceitifically understand what the best we can do for new students int he near future.. i request everyone to find out such strategies and share with others which  can be beneficial

keep it up Chesda, i really liked your comments...
