Hey guys, We have been doing a section on the radio show called 'real world english'. This is the English that is really spoken by native speakers and is a focus on slang and regional language. When Richard (TDOL) was on the show with us, we discussed some Cockney Rhyming slang and this is the English that is spoken by a lot of native speakers in London. Here are some of them to remind you. Sharon stone = telephone Dog and bone = telephone Trouble and strife = wife Saucepan lids = kids Britney spears = beers Fat boy slim = gym Whistle and flute = suit Apples and pears = stairs Skin and blister = sister Have fun, Paul

Simple- take a name and use it to replace a well-known word, so Sharon Stone replaces phone. So, using the people who do the radio show, I could say that I am going down to the Paul Brown to DJ Brett some shopping. You translate. ;-)

Thank you very much indeed for explaining that to me. That's very funny language. Tdol = doll (is it acceptable?)

I'll give you a clue: Paul Brown = preposition frog and toad = noun DJ Brett = verb Wilson Pickett = noun Keosomala = country
