The copyright laws in the USA, where this site is hosted, and elsewhere are very strict.  Please do not copy complete articles from other sites; this is against the law and could lead to this site being closed down.  Fair use allows you to quote a part and then link to the original.  Copying complete texts is the same as republishing and is not allowed.  Threads that reproduce whole texts without crediting sources will be deleted or edited.  Please quote just a part and post a link to the site you found it in.

Thank you.

Thanks very much, Tdol, for the very useful information. The crux is 'never copy complete articles from other sites and only to quote a part of it with a link to the original site.' Wow, very serious. I have never copied the complete texts from any site but just a part of it along with a link to the original. However, I hope I can copy the whole article for self-study Grin

If you copy an article to your own computer, for your own use, that is not a problem.  The problem starts when people put them here on the forum, which is a breach of the law.   Cheesy

 Hey guys,  Grin

I completely agree with Tdol, and thanks to him for his clarification. The issue of copyright is very serious and please do try to reference the sources of any text that you put into the forum, which comes from somewhere else. It is great to search the internet and find useful things to help you with your studies, but please do make sure that you give credit to the original author of the work if you put it into the forum.

 Have fun, Wink

It seems a little late to come up with this advice, however it is good to remind everyone. I agree with Tdol for what he said. Thank you for bringing this up.

Hi!

Talking about this, I also have a doubt. For Chinese websites, I see people can download music for free, esp new songs...?! so why...? can you explain.

Hi Lyda,

I'm really glad to see you again here. Look, Lyda, people can download those pieces of music for free because the website allows them to. When you browse through websites, you have got to be careful because some are copyrighted. How do you know they are copyrighted? Just as books, some books are clearly stated as copyrighted. When you want to quote anything from such kinds of books or websites, you have to give credit to them or provide citations.

So it's okay if you download the songs someone allows...Smiley but just for your own use. But you will face the music when you create another song that is a copy of someone else's song.

Dollar, a couple of points:
This site isn't hosted in Cambodia, and that means that it could get into trouble.  What you do with music sites in China is your affair, but posting copyright material here places the site owners at risk.

Secondly, these sites are basically breaking the law.  At the moment little is happening to stop them, but BitTorrentSpy have just been fined nearly a hundred million dollars in the US.

Cambodia- Microsoft have just opened here- they are running out of markets and being challenged by Google, Linux, etc, so they are looking to places like this one as a way of boosting their revenues.  The pirate market may dominate here at the moment, but slowly companies will have to start using legitimate software.
