Hello Sokkuniza. Nice to know you. You've got a very sweet name.

Everybody who starts to listen to BBC always has the same trouble listening to native speakers of English.Smiley I find that the BBC news readers speak English very clearly enough and it is good for starters like you.

I still remember my first day of listening to BBC. At first, I took out a piece of paper and tried to listen to BBC radio by at the same time taking notes of the words I could hear. Do this little by little made me used to listening to a lot of words.  Grin But it takes patience and your time. At first, I'm sure you won't feel very comfortable about it because it's a bit boring. Cheesy But sooner or later it works its way out for you. So, next time, if you can do it, just take a piece of paper out and a pen, write down what you can hear from the BBC radio. OH, one more thing! If you can record a part of the BBC program, you can listen to it again and again.

I have a suggestion for you. You can start to improve your listening by learning through textbooks which have tapes/cassettes along with them. I would suggest you to listen to English tapes, but not radio at first Grin. However, you can listen but learning to listen to English tapes for some time can enable you to listen to an English radio.  Roll Eyes

Morever, learn some more vocabulary. As you can hear, listening means understanding words someone says. If you don't know enough vocabulary, learn to know some more.  Grin

You can go to "Introduction" section and introduce yourself there. Then, the members here will welcome you.  Grin

you always have good ideas mala.

here is my suggestions for starry frieda sokkunniza Smiley. what you can do is to do as mala told, or do nothing at all. Your listening will automatically improve by itself if you continue listening to the BBC. My experience is the same as you. I could not understand most of the information when i first started practising my listening. if you feel uncomfortable with the BBC, why not try 97.5 love fm. it will also improve you listening with of course fun.

Grin Grin Grin my teeth is very white you see!

I do agree that joining VOA special English program will surely help coz it is easier than BBC.
You can also download Mp3 along with the text so that u can manage to understand pronunciation as well as meaning. I think BBC is too hard to start. Let's try another source to keep u feel confident.

 GrinHi there,

Yeah I agree with ya, Rachada, that ABC is easy to listen than BBC. However, I like BBC, because it's always interesting! I mean the News and the programs as well. It's quite faster than ABC, when the news readers speak.

Podcasting and MP3 help as well, it's great way too. However, use the easiest for you!
