Hi Minoreth, Cheesy

Welcome to the fantastic website. Just a warm welcome from me, a member here too. Monireth, I'm not Paul, but I'd like to help you by sharing my ideas. Cheesy

Well, listening again?? In my opinion, listening is the hardest part of English, for me,  Cheesy because it doesn't require little practice, but much practice to make our hearing sense used to the English language. So again, I'd like to suggest you to go on training yourself to hear bit by bit every day. When they speak too fast for you, you can ask them to repeat by saying "Could you please speak a little more slowly, please?" or "Could you explain this/that?" or any question to ask them to repeat what they have just said.

Just a few ideas. Cheesy
Have fun.

Hey Monireth (not Minoreth, Nila! ) and Kounila,

Welcome! Welcome, Monireth!

I just want to add abit more ideas to that, Reth. Understanding the meanings of the words is not enough, you have to know how the words are pronounced also. For example: chemical /'kemikl/, if you think this word is pronounced /'chemikl/ then you'll never catch this word from the foreigners. So I just want to suggest you get more involved with pronunciations.

Just some ideas,
Prasoeur

used to think I had the answers to everything. But now I know, that life doesn't always go my way. So I must do something to get it to be the best one. All I have to do now is to get the best quality of learning English.

Hi All,

Excellent suggestions posted here.  i want to add something to it.

Monireth, do you watch English movies?

Instead of practising in real time, and asking them "pardon', u better take some English movies where the dialogues / titles are written in English (below the screen).

First watch movie without displaying text.  Second time, u enable Titles.

Take some interesting movies viz., action, fiction etc. so that u ll never be bored of it.

Sarath
P.S.:  Keen observation / strong determination is must.

Watching movies with the subtitles is a good idea, but the subtitles are, in some cases, not very accurate.  I watched a DVD recently and the translation was dreadful at times.  You can see some of the examples here: http://www.usingenglish.com/profiles/tdol/archives/000328.html

hi! all
to have read what you have written to suggest is good and i also have many strategies to tell al of you. If you want to be a good listener, first you should contiontrate to what you listen. Second, listent what ever you like to listent. Third, pay attention to the topic. Do this way you may becom a good listener.
