Hi Chomnea,
The first step of listening, you should not care what they are talking just keep listen everyday you will find your listening will improve.
Second, find which show you like ( For example, i like love fm, i've been listening to it for 6 years. You konw the first time i listened i did't understand everything even the word Caller )
Third, it's easy one,if you follow two steps above, you will feel your listening really improve and understanding so well.

For beginner Listener (My words)

Firstly, aim for numbers. Meaning you should prepare your ears for numbers expression. Numbers might be easy to be heard for the beginner.

After that, aim for more simple words such as (well, that's your standard)

Then, aim for more difficult words.

The academic words are your next step.

Then, try to listen it wholely and understand it completely with your sense, not your translation.

Well, this is just little experience of mine when i was starting to grasp the listening skill. I didn't know this method work such a marvelous like this at all. But it come to be very true that I can't reject. It was a hopeless for me but then after a short period of time (within a few months); I recognized something has change with my listening skill.

I am going to share with you in a short while the reason behind this. Remember, any method may work vary for different people and personality. So, be aware of what i am sharing with you now. Someone might have different opinion.

The secrete reveal to you now. A few years ago I found myself hardly listen to the news or even face to face communication with people. But after for a while I turn the radio on sometime of the day everyday. But i didn't pay much attention to the news. Just to hear. Amazing!!! You know, it worked and continue to work. As the result i am able to listen to the news from foreign broadcasting channels.

All the hardest things became very simple. If you like this concept you may want to try sometime. I tell you it works. Just turn on your radio to one of the channels and keep it their for hearing purpose. No need to worry about grasping the meaning but just to hear.
