Hi everybody,I just registered yesterday, and I want to ask how can I improve my speaking skill? I'm good at writting, but when I'm speaking I forgot all the words I want to say, and don't know why! Maybe I'm too nervous when I'm speaking, especially when I spoke with foreigners and my English teacher, so can you give me some advices for improving my speaking skill? Thanks alot!

Hi Likeave,

I hope that I am not too late to welcome you to this site, ain't I?

Actually we are in the same boat, that is, I also have problem with speaking. I know speak as much as you will help improve our speaking. But what should I do if I don't like to speak a lot? ( I'm not a kind of talkative person.)

Hope to get some great pieces of advice.

Hi Likeav and Jupiter,

I think I am dreaming, aren't I? I replied this post before, why would it exist in another section? Likeav, did you post it twice in diffirent place? Huh

To be honset, I am not kinda talkative either, fortunately, I've found the reason why I am not, because I am a quick blushing person. Shocked I may be too shy to talk to the people, to the strangers, but not to someone I know.

Well, this used to be my question either and someone in this forum suggested me to convers with my twin brother who is in my mirror. And that worked! My speaking has improved alot after that and I automatically built up a good confidence in speaking English. Thanks to him and her! Grin

Have fun,

It's good that you keep logging in.
Well your surprise seems to remind me all about my very previous posts which've helped me alot on speaking English. It was Somala and Jupiter who gave me alot of encouragement. Grin

Hi Likeav,

Well, may I not mention my shool? I am studying somewhere just around my house. It's a small school, but I have a really wonderful teacher. Having been with him for almost 5 years, I still don't forget the first day I entered his class with an empty brain and just a ability of reading A-Z. He has been giving me alot great suggestion and advice on how to learn English, especailly speaking. I lean almost everything from him because " You know almost everything I know" was what he said to me last year ...

Thanks to him, anyway.

Hi Likeav Jupi and spirit, Grin

Thanks for that, Likeav and Spirit! Didn't think this would surprise you both that much. Anyway, I don't think I am that smart or clever, I just enjoy being with English and I've deserved alot of fun from English. That's it!

Wish you both luck, and Jupi,

Hi Likeav Jupiter Spirit and Mr. Happy,

Pronunciation? It's not your problem, but ours! Most learners may be shy to express the words in a right way as it might be funny infront of their friends. Some other students don't know how to say or pronounce them correctly and a lot more don't even know that they're having problem with their pronuncing.

There are some comment mistakes which usaully appear in some students' converstaion, such as HATE and HAT, (but they pronunce the same). There are some more like, SHE and SEE, THINK and SINK, MAD and MADE, MATE and MET ...

The best way to improve is to listen more to the native speaker, radio, movie, songs ... Asking some advice from the real person is more effective, I think, like your foriegn teacher or Khmer teachers that you think can help and whoever who's got the correct pronunciation. And the most impotant thing is to practice. Look up the new word to see how to pronunce it and try to apply that word in your converstaion. That's it!

Just my thought,
Prasouer
