hey guest!  Cheesy

Welcome to the site, and please try to join as a member as that is a much more personal way of being a member rather than being a guest.

Anyway still really happy to have you as part of the site and here is some advice about pronunciation........... Cheesy

Welcome to the website and it is great that you are enjoying learning English and want to improve your pronunciation. However, don't worry about it too much, as if you do, you may lose confidence. What I have personally found as a second language Khmer speaker, is that pronunciation is also hard for me too, in fact i am sure it is really bad
Howver, it is interesting that I am still understood as the words are part of a sentence and the people I am talking to can work it out. What you will find is that when you speak a language, the important thing is Communication and getting your message across, and for this CONFIDENCE is the best skill to develop.

I would concentrate only on the pronunciation problems which occur for native speakers or Cambodian who are learning English as a second language. As the problems of pronunciation are due to the direct different sounds each language has. As the site develops we will have more tips on what the pronunciation problems are and offer some speaking drills for practice to help you improve.  Smiley

I hope that you become a member soon, and thanks for you question  Cheesy

have fun,

Paul

Hi Guest!
What you had metioned is right because everyong are studying anther language as the second language. Especially, when having a chat with someone in foreign language seems to be difficult, but don't worry whenever this matter has been occurring to us. Only try your best can support you to come up with it. Remember!!!! as long as we are alive, we still many occations to get the problems solved, however, we are required to spend time treying to understand all kinds of problems we used to encouter. I don't think my concepts are good, but I want to share some recommendations related to your trouble.

Actually, the way to hand to speak English fluently is not difficult and easy; the main factor is you, yourself, can betolerated to strengthen in order to built up your capacity or not. The best way to acheive it, in my opinion, first of all, try to speak it as much as possible. It means that don't worry about making mistakes when you speak, these mistakes will be corrected later after you had learn grammar rules, stuctures and so on. Secondly, try to reduce speaking your original language in the class. This implies that you have to try your best speaking English with your teachers in the class, your classmates, roomates, friends, who are qualified to speak English. Similarly, you have to speand time listen to tapes, TV programs, and songs in English because it can compromise you to catch up with the foreign accent. Especially, it eases you to understand the way the native speakers speak. Besides, when you have spare time, take this valuable chance to have a chat or a small discussion with the native speakers and they will provide you many strategies and methedologies relavant to improve English speaking skill. Try jto get up early in the imorning after that bring your book and read it as loud as possible for it can, during that time, your feeling is really good, help you to imrpve your reading speed. This means that your fluent speaking can be increased thoughout your reading speed. Finally, you need to read many books, as a result, you can learn a lot from reading such as: new vacabuleries, good ideas, namely it can cause you to be creative so you can enlar Smiley  Smiley ge your speaking skill easily.

Good luck !!!!

dear to all

My dear friend your temptation to be well in speaking English is a very right target and place you should go, but the problem is  that you are not sure how to get there. On behalf of one of your good friends, let me rise my personal experiences to be humble samples for you: when I first begun to speak English got some troubles as you get, but my solution to that was to noticefy where is my most trouble. For example, I may speak out a sentence without thinking about subject verb agreement or I may ask a question without inverting auxilary verb in the front of the subject. Another thing was that I did not clearify about tenses; past, present or future. From learning to correct these two simple mistakes I have promoted my speaking skills.
As your problem was mine, my examples above may help you realize how to start speaking well. Let learn something from bottom to top and top to summit!

Today you are here tomorrow you will be there

Hi there!!

To promote English speaking skill you have to burn yourself, mainly in, vocabulary, and general education (listen, watch and  read a lot)

Because when you are good at vocabulary, I mean you know multiwords, you can listen to others easily and then you can perform your speaking communicative perfectly. Morover, if you get a lot of ideas, general knowledge, you can say something freely, esp. when you spell out sometings to others.

Just idea!

Hi guys, Cheesy

It is not difficult at all if you just free yourself to speak as it is the beginning of the the long way which will be walked. That may look abit funny since that speaking come out with so many mistakes like pronunciation, structure, intonation and so on. Don't you think that you are so like a kid? A little kid starts speaking with incomplete structures, wrong pronunciation ... But everything starts getting better day after day.

What I want to mention is just to be like a kid, speak as much as you can without worrying about any mistake. After sometime, you won't find it hard to open your mouth for English words anymore.

Anyway, this is just the biginning. That kid has grown bigger and taller and now he becomes a teenager. A teenager's speaking is much better than a kid's, so this is when you have to be like a teenager. Improve your speaking with reducing those mistakes you have made. Try to listen and speak more but not to be kidding or funny as you did at the first episode.

This is not the end, you have to grow more to be an adult and your English should be better than a teenager since it is the time for wrok.
