Hey guys, A great new topic started here by Mr Huj, thanks for that. As some of you know, this year we have introduced the student phone-in show as part of the 5steps2ielts.com show on Love FM. This is a place where you the listeners share your tips and study techniques for learning English with other listeners. Now you can do it on the forum as well!! So If you have any ideas of what makes you a better learner, or any ideas you have for how 5steps can better help you with your studies, then please get involved and let us know! We would love to hear from you. Have fun, Paul

Hi Chamroeun,
Welome to the site. Hope you'll find it useful for your English study.
There're various ways of learning but I think the most important point is that how much time you spend learning? Personally, the more time you spend to learn, the more knowledge you'll get. Learning doesn't mean taking a book/books and start to read from the beginning to the end. It's more than that, it involves all our five senses. We have to see, listen, feel, taste...Therefore, make sure that every moment we're ready to take in new idea or knowledge. For your problem in speaking, I think you just pretend to be crazy, ok? Talk alone, act as an actor/actress in the film. Speak out everything in your mind in English. Try to copy the way native speaker does, soon you'll realize that you're on the way to success in speaking.

Hi Chamroeun,
Nice to see you back.
Pal (informal) = friend. Hell (informal) = used to express anger, surprise, emphasis, etc.
Hope it answer yours.

That is so great to get the wonderful idear from everyone here your ideas are good to accept and also your experiences are so amazing. For mine i think the best ways to learn English are Reading : you have to read a lot if you want your English to improve. you have to find the interesting books to read so that it is not boring you and also while you are reading you have to read it loud not just read it with your mind withoug voice. Speaking : you have to find a partner to speak with but if you not able to find a partner you can speak by your own as a crazy try to find the idear to speak Listening: try to listen while others speaking or you can listen to some material Writing : while reading you should write it down some sentences, phrases or vocabulary and also you have to take notes some structure in the centence

There are a number of things to do to become a successful English learner. For me, I started studying English since I was in 6 grade and I've never stop or pause since then. What is important about this is that if you get started and then stopped a few months or probably years later, you will soon forget what you have learned unless you practise it regularly. So one way to help you succeed is to study continuously until you feel you're proficient enough. I also notice that some people do not prefer to study from textbooks which give you general knowledge about English and its culture ( and also that of other Anglosaxon countries). Instead, they try to focus on specific things like conversation or grammar or writing. I don't thing it is a good idea to do that. Since you focus on conversation, you probably do not have time to center on grammar and writing. Finally, what you are excel at is speaking. But what does it help if you don't know how to write? In contrast, if you start from general English, you will know everything in general. Although it takes a bit long time to be proficient in every skill, it is much much better than being good at one skill but bad at others. To me, I started my English by studying it in general until i finished my English diploma at Pannasastra University. What is more, I changed from school to school. Maybe you don't like to change schools like me, but I think it is better to do that. By entering new school, you will study in a new environment, getting to know more and more people and so on. Above is how I study English. Not only do I use it for English, but I also apply it to other languages. I believe it does help me because I am always the best student in language class, not only English but also French, Japanese, Thai.
