Hi there !
Right, speaking in English is difficult for us because we are Cambodian not a native speaker but we can improve it from day to day by involving with it. The best way we should involve with speaking is to practice everyday. Actually, I'm not a good speaker in English too but I can improve some after I accepted all the great ideas of the great members of this fantastic forum.
To Vilang, I just suggest you to practice by some tips given of our friends above and pls don't care about the grammar nor pronunciation. Not take so long time, you will see how change you do.Just think that we are Cambodia not a native speaker so we need to improve step by step na.
To Davy, as you said, you have missed to practice speaking English for long time and you now would like to get it back, right? Ok! If you are busy with your work and you don't have someone to talk to you in English, you can practice with Paul or Dj Brett by calling their show on Love FM every Monday to Wednesday from 21:00 to 22:00pm; they are welcome and then you will share your ideas or tip of learning to every student na.
Ok! Just an idea ! Have Fun !

hi Rachada
they can speak alittle, when i speak to them, they say don speak in english, do speak in Khmer, and they didnt know what i meant, i tried to explain but it's still impossible. have u ever met the situation like that? how do u feel if u were me? u know what? i can study at the weekend but i don want. u know why? i've got reason enough to tell u, u have to spend 4 years in University and start everything again, grammar....something like that (only uiversity can, i think) i am so fed up of study again and again. i want something new and exciting. on the other hand, i don know where i can study at the weekend with foreigners teacher except that. ok tell me if u've got one. about study by myself, absolutely i do. i do every time i get myself in free, u know that's not enough for me i still don have any time to practise speaking. ok tell me more about that
anyway, thanks so much for telling me rachada, i appreciate it.
take care!

Ha? Calling 5steps show? it's a good idea too but have you even think how many minutes can you speak? or it might waste your money? you may try to find questions to ask them or you got nothing...one more you cant speak what you want i mean not like with friends(such study, life or something else) No, just my idea for that might right/wrong Santa About Dadavy, yeah i know that situation. I used to face it too like you feel dont want to speak English again oooh your coworkers, they might think their English are poor so it's the only reason they don't want to speak out. I think they got it wrong... Hey, you should try to tell them about that point you know maybe they'll change their idea one day( tell them: practise is a best way to get your goal) im sure you understand.. Weekends study with foreigners? i dont know hmm it's ok i'll try to find one for you. Can you tell when do you start and finish working?

There all !
Dear Rachada, pls don't care about the duration first! I know it takes not so long time to talk on the show but don't you think it's better than never? Waste money? Ohh come on dear, I don't think you can get something without payment,it's very rarely, don't you think so? On this show, Paul and DJ Brett always talk about learning English or any topic (study, life or something else) related to English language something like that.... so you already know what the show is talking about; you can ask questions or share your ideas related to that topic as well.
Absolutely, you may take some minutes to find questions to ask them, but I think you have time to think before you call the show. Let's think you wanna practice speaking English so pls don't care of the topic much, just supose that You are facing to foreigners by accident or you can treat them as your teacher and you wanna share your ideas to the listeners. They will not mind you if you say something really related to the topic.
Once again, you said it's different situation between talking on the show and talking with you friends, right? Of course, it's not the same that's why you have to be more confident when you are talking on the show. Don't you think speaking only with your friends is limiting your English? Don't you wanna enlarge your English by practicing with foreigners? However, I just wanna recommend someone (Paul and DJ Brett) who can talk to Davy cos Davy wants to speak English and Davy have no one to talk with in English.
Anyway, if you found a class with foreigner teacher at the weekend, pls let me know cos now I have no English class too. Ok! Thanks in advance! Have a nice weekend na fri ! C ya

Dear Friends !
Heah! Davy, calling the show is the first choice for you to practice ya English, I just wanna indroduce you because I think you really wanna speak English. Beside this? OH ... let me think ! Oh... if you don't think it's crazy, you can talk to yourself in the mirror by suposing that you are talking with me or other friends , ok? Have you ever tried this before? Oh dear, for me, I work for Singarpour company, yet I usually speak in Khmer because all my co-workers are speaking in Khmer. However, I sometime speak in English on line if there has foreigner clients. It takes only 5 or 10 minutes per day I think. It's not enough for me so that I'd like to get English with foreign teacher too na. Ok! hope to hearing a good new from Rachada soon.
Good luck fri ! C ya

Davy, you only work on Saturday morning? so you have much times to study on weekdays right?or what? Would you mind telling me your level? It seems your English level is a bit high.. Hmm..your cousins are different from mind.Let me tell you most of my cousins are good at English i mean better than me so it's ok i guess. We only speak when we want (not really everyday)and with friends when we meet each other sometime we just speak Khmer cos have a lot of things to talk so we forget to speak in English .About in class,a hard one just speak when teacher give us a topic.....other reason, they dont want to speak English

Dear all who this concerns
By reading your problems, i have no comments to react. But i have facts to share.
Cambodian people is known as the best people to learn foreign language, people who have quickest capability to adapt the native speaking accent.
But so far, Cambodian people seems to reach points where they can not advance further, meaning they achieve certain levels of speaking and, no better improvements. However, that is not my concerns.
My concern is: "To be absolute"... try to vanquish your weak point and try to find your strong point. Try it out, be brave, be confident, be absolute, be a real Khmer blood. We are born to study, than why afraid of expressing what we have studied.
In my heart, i always wanted to teach someone, even everyone, to whom i met or befriend, with everything i know.
Due to my business, i can not share times for some of them.
But...
I'm offtopic now... back to the topic then.
Yeah, to improve the fluent speaking ability requires daily or frequently practicing. Just make sure you don't waste your time with Khmer in America... if you know what i mean.

Dear all
to tell u the truth, Santa i've never learned speaking english in the mirror. i always speak on my mind. i imagine what in english is spoken first and then i speak out in khmer. hey u know what? sometime words in english are untranslatable directly in khmer for me. i have to explain more to the listeners. that's all what i do for the present time......
hey rachada, u have confused to what i've said, i work from monday to friday and saturday morning. so on the weekend i am free only in the eveninig. to be perfectly candid, i don know what level i am in. i strongly believe that i can speak no mater who it is and i know almost all the words they're speaking, u know why i say that cos i have talked to canadian citizen (former khmer citizen) for the last a couple of months, they said my english was so freaking awesome for a cambodian like me.......and alot of things. i gotta go now coz it's getting dark outside.
good luck to both of u
bye bye
