How to post

Now, to the important issue of how to post.

Posting.

1.   Login (sometimes you may need to submit your login details twice ? we are working on this problem but for most of you this should not happen). You will see your login name displayed in the top right of the screen like this: [ your user name ]

2.   Browse the forum: Just click on any of the forums available, read the content, find what your are interested in and get to know our site and the topics that users are discussing.

3.   Once you have clicked through to a topic or discussion that you are interested in you can add your idea or thought to that topic ? the first message you see in any of the topics is the start of that conversation, the last message is the current end of that conversation ? you can then add your own comment next in the conversation.

4.   Add your reply ? simply click on the ?post reply? button which appears at the top or bottom of the screen.

5.   The next stage is just like writing an email. Give your reply a subject in the subject box, and then in the main window write your message, just like email? You can add ?smileys? just as in an email and you can change some of your text just like in Word or email by making bold, italic, underline as you would in other software. You can change the font size and colour also.

6.   When you have finished you can check your message by choosing the ?Preview? button or just post your message to the forum by hitting the ?Submit? button. Your message should now be added to the end of the conversation for everybody to see and perhaps add to or reply to. Easy huh?!

7.   You can also add a New Topic conversation to any of the main forum areas by following the above steps and posting using the ?new topic? button. You use this option if none of the topics is related to what you would like discussed or want answers to ? this is the best way to ask new questions!

8.   For example: clicking on the ?Writing? forum on the main discussion board homepage. You will currently see 4 topics ? each of these topics has a number of replies. If you want answers to something you are having trouble with or would like other members to discuss so that all members can share and learn it?s easy ? just post a ?new topic? ! If you have some information you would like to add to another conversation to help other members or to find out information for yourself then simply ?post a reply? within one of the topics.

9.   Much of the discussion board screen might look complicated but it isn?t really. The key things to remember after logging in are: BROWSE ? look around for subjects and topics that interest you in the different sections. POST A REPLY ? add your idea or question to a topic of conversation that is already there. POST A TOPIC ? post a new topic to ask questions from other members, you will be amazed when other users post replies to your problem or question and you can see the great benefit of the forums as everybody tries to help each other out in areas of their language studies ? and also just to be having fun and communicating with other members is good too!

Other key issues with posting

Remember that the discussion forums are YOUR PLACE to ask QUESTIONS, start NEW TOPICS, and POST REPLIES to topics already there.

By adding your ideas everybody will share and learn. By starting a NEW TOPIC you will be asking a question that many others are probably looking for an answer to as well. Go ahead, experiment and have fun.

Remember that there are qualified English instructors and teachers monitoring the board to answer your questions too, as well as many members who have already studied for some of the areas discussed and want to help share their ideas.

Our discussion forums are a place to SHARE IDEAS, CREATE NEW DISCUSSION, GET ADVICE, PICK UP USEFUL TIPS, COMMUNICATE AS A GROUP ? the bigger the group and community we have the better for our members as we can all share our collective knowledge and experience! Good Luck..

And once again ? if you have specific problems using the discussion forum please email us at: info@5steps2ielts.com

I am so sorry that I  couldn't join your chatroom. Guess why? I was so busy to study and my work; however, I like listening to your show so much. Paul, I would like to suggest you that, please, teach some new english that I can say that it is new century english usages.

Paul, I hope that I am able to improve my english through your teaching and listen to your show.   It is wonderful that I can attendent to be one of your member. Moreover, I would like to open freely teaching directly it is better than joining the chatshow or something else.

Dear Mr. Paul,

I, Walker, am very happy to join the www.5steps2english.com.

I have some problems when i read the English newspaper.
I found it's hard to know the meaning of the article because i have to check the vocabulary in the dictionary.

Can you explain me the best way to understand it?

 Hey Walker,  Grin

 Welcome to the forum,

Please post your question about reading the newspaper in the Reading section, no one will see it in this section!

 Thanks,  Wink

Hi Palm Tree,

That was 2 years ago (December 2005). Now there is no possibility of a chatroom anymore. Maybe you have to wait until Mr. Huj makes it possible.  Smiley
