actually, you no need to understand the meaning of those word and the whole text also you know why? you don't have time to do so just skim and scan for answer the questions that's all.Try to guess those word by using wrod around it or guess part of speech hmm after you finish your answer you can come back to check them in your dictionary if you want.keep doing so that's easy to remember those word quickly....

hmm make sure that you understand the question clearly oh don't forget underline key words so it's easy to find the answer.Don't care much what the text it's about just try to find to answer i mean some paragraph not important just leave it...if it still doesnt work the only way is guessing Grin ok keep reading in English it helps you to improve your reading speed and general idea...no more to say...
have a nice weekend there Wink

Hi there,

That also depends on how much time you have for reading the whole text and answering the questions of the text. Are you taking a test or are you just learning to prepare for something like a test? If you have little time, it's important at least you understand the main points/gists of the text like Rachada mentioned. But if you have a lot of time, why not try to look up the unknown words in your dictionary?

Um! you know terrible problems always comes from the difficult words in the text. However, you need to know that when you read it, this doesn't mean that you always know the vocabularies first. You have to scan the meaning from text as possible as you can; therefore, you'll enjoy reading it. This is my way to read the book especially about the literature. Moreover, try to know about the title of the topic what are we going to read? if you know very well about your topic then you'll be able to guess the inside of the article. One more thing that can also helps you is you need to reread it again and again calmly not norvous,so you'll gain more benifit to absorb the most important events or ideas in the text but keep escape from your worry on the difficult vocabularies. Read for fun not read under any preasure!!! hope you'll do better from Davuth.

I got 7 band score in Reading Skills (IELTS) without understanding anything in the text, believe?
I just understand the questions and know where the answers are. That's it!
Remember that "In Reading Exam, you have to understand the questions, not the meaning of the whole text"
One suggestion for Improving your Reading Skills is "Studying Synonym". That's a very effective method.
