Good day Paul,

I feel it very difficult to remember vocabulary I have learned before. My memory is not good because after I learn those words, I will forget them the next day or week. And whenever I want to recall them, they are on the tip of my tongue, so I have to take time to check them in my books once again. So, could you please tell me the ways to remember them quite well? How can I use them in speaking if there is nothing to do with those or my topic is not connected to those? How can I remember them for a long-term memory?

I hope you will advise me about this.
Thank You.

see malen,

the very first thing that u hv to do is - regular practice.  u hv to go through the meaning regularly. u hv to try to build sentence using those new words.

nothing takes to permanent memory, only repeated work. revision -only
bye

Perhaps you need to do more pleasure reading. Pleasure reading is reading not for study but for pleasure. If you buy a real story book that is not an education book, you will probably see many words that you have learned already. Seeing these words in the story will help you remember them. I think you should go to the book store and buy real story books. You must tell yourself that reading is an interesting thing to do and that you want to do it everyday!

you are quite the same as me. I always lose my words after having learned them. The best you may not forget it is that you should try to make several sentences with the words you have learnt or practice using them when it is suitable for being used. I used to have this problem, my teachers always gave me homework esp writing that's why i had much chance to use it this was the way i could remember vocabulary.

Hello !!
I think the best way to remember is to practise and u need to take note or write down all that word.
You can make a flash card:
it is a card that u write the words
and it is like a card that u play
but it is help u all the time
because u can see it when u have free time ,
u put it in ur pocket all the time and it does help me ..
And you write only 10 words a day ,
for 1 week you need to memorize that work.
Can u remember 1 month or 1 year alot. cant'' count ..
It only my idea .
Ple try to make sure it work with u !!!

Thanks!!

MY theory will be:

1. When you learn new words, write it down in your special book or notebook
2. Revise it, by shouting the words 5 times aiming pronounciation and stress.
3. Learn its definition and example
4. Try to make our own way or example of those words
5. Review it once agian after a few hours
6. Review again after new lesson

Hi Prakborin,

Maybe you should put the word your teacher taught you into a sentence before you can really say it.  Smiley This way can make you feel more confident when you want to speak English, using the word you learned.

Hey Mala and Malen is sound the same sibling relation. Do you guys  like what I predict? Because when I look at your first name is actually the same, Keo!

To Borin!!
Tell you the truth, on one is able to recall all the words we have learnt or come across. If that words are not necessary used in dailly life we probably forget it easily. One more thing, if we are able to remember all we have learned, we will go along the road, once day!

What I suggest you to do is that just try to remember the words which are popular, dailly used, or necessary for our life. Dont try to remember all due to our brain space's capability. And the way to learn it effectively, all our frens have already suggested you!!

Hi, Keo Malen

Nice to contact u. I've experienced problem as u have, and i tried to find out the approach to settle it. So far, since i have studied Newspaper translating course, i find that it is good for u to remember the vocabularies just trying to read the books, written in english as ur textbook or the story books, and also try to read newspaper day to day. so doing, u will find urself that u do improve ur vocabularies.
Hope u get success with ur study english.

Ramy,
