It is the first time for me to joint this forum. I've learned English for many years, but I dont think my listening is good. I have to attend meeting regularly since I started to work with foreigners. Most of the time I can't understand clearly for what they are talking about. Angry It doesnt mean that I dont understand at all, but I understand some. However, I want to improve my listening........

Hi Rose,

If you want to be good at listening, try involving yourself with English speakin environment. I think it will be easy for you because you work with foreigners. Just spend a lot of time talking and listening to them. One more thing, don't put pressure on yourself, just feel relax.

Hi Greeny,

Thanks for your comment.I think it is a good idea.
Unfortunately, all of us are very busy in working.
So, they don't have time to talk with me.
And I afraid to bother them if I try to talk much to them.
For more, I think they would feel boring to talk with me that couldn't listen well as I usually ask them to repeat what they have just said.
Greeny, are you Cambodian or...?

Hey, don't feel afraid to try and talk to foreigners. Personally, I believe that those foreigners are kind, and they might not mind if you talk to them. I think they are happy to help you improve your English.

P.S. I am 100% Cambodian. Cheesy

Hey, many thanks for your good idea. I will try my best to talk to them.
Did you see Ronan Keating yesterday evening? It's great...was it?
Hope to talk with you sometimes. Smiley

Hi Soviseth,

It always happens to non-native speakers of Englsih like us. It is only 40 percent that you can listen to a foreinger. Listening is a cumulative process, something you have to develop days after days. You should not expect to be very good at it at the beginning. When you want to be able to listen to it, listen to it more.  Grin I'd like to suggest you to improve your reading, vocabulary, writing, speaking while you are listening. And I'd prefer you to learn a text book with an English cassette to listen to because this way you can read and listen to English at the same time and repeatedly. Please learn to have a good pronunication by listening more to the native speakers of English.
