Dear all 5steps members, esp Paul, I had already taken iBT test on 15th already. It was very very difficult for me and under pressure. I had to sit in front of computer nearly 4 hours.
For the first 2 parts Reading and Listening is much easier in that we can guess.Reading is very long and hard.It is all related to Sciences.
The most difficult part is Speaking.Time is short and you have to speak to computer. For the integreted part, is again very hard coz you may have nothing to reply if you can not catch when listening.Note takings is very important then.
And for the last part Writing is much easier.Good typing will save time given.
I would be glad to elaborate more if asked Best wishes, Hun kanal

Good afternoon you guys! I'm nit! Congratulation! Finally you have already taken the difficult iBT TOEFL test. Appreciate what you get even though it is not as much as you want! I do admire you, Kanal, that you have gotten such a nice score. I think 68 is great. But how about Saosoraya? You didn't share your score to us yet. Anyways, I am also planning to take TOEFL test too; therefore, hearing some experience from those who have already taken the TOEFL test is gonna help me alot then. Well, I got some doubt about the requirment from the university in the US. What is the average score they require? 80? or more? I am looking forward getting some response from u guys. Thanks in advanced! BYE

Hi there!
I am really interested in iBT Toefl. I heard that the test is very difficult, much more difficult than the papar-based.
I am planning to take this test too, and at the moment I am taking a preparation course for iBT Toefl. Hey, kanal and saosoraya did you take any preparation course before you took the test?
I love to hear from you.
Greeny,

Hey Greeny, Where are you doing the iBT preparation course? Is it with native-speakers or Cambodian teachers? The team at 5steps are monitoring the way the iBT develops in Cambodia as the teachers on the team all feel that it is now very hard! It is now much much harder than it used to be in the past and so now requires very specific skills to learn and practice. The integrated tasks are the hardest part and require a lot of Academic English skills to do it effectively. 5steps are currently in the process of designing and developing an iBT curriculum and other teachers and myself have been taking the iBT test online to try to master the skills required. It is only possible to effectively teach for an English language test, if you can pass it well yourself, that is why 5steps are still in the research phase of our iBT materials. As the iBT is very Academic in nature, I would suggest that effective iBT and test preparation teachers would need to have at least a good University degree as well as an English language teaching certificate to be able to teach it properly. Keep us informed about all your iBT opinions and views and what you thought of any preparation courses you are doing. That way, it can help us help you guys for free with iBT prep online! Have fun, Paul

Hi Paul!
I am doing my preparation course at RUPP (Royal University of Phnom Penh). I have good reasons to believe that this is a very reliable school. Teachers are Cambodian, but they teach English at IFL (Institute of Foreign Languages, one of the best English Falculty in Cambodia).
I am only in my third week of the course, but I can tell that this course tellls you what it is like to take the iBT Toefl. It gives you a lot of practices with tests on Computers, and the teachers will guide you to the right spot. For the speaking and writing, teachers will evaluate your response and tell you what problems you are having and how you can improve it.
Anyway, I think taking the course is good, because I know what is in store for me. I don't have to be shocked when I take the test.

Hey Greeny, You are right RUPP is a very reputable University. The key question to ask for any kind of test preparation, IELTS, iBT, GRE, GMAT, SAT or BEC is simply this... if your test preparation teachers were to take the iBT or any other test themselves would get a very high score? A lot of teachers simply teach from the book or from a CD rom on computer and so it can appear that they have good knowledge about the iBT. However, it does sound like you are getting good practice of what the test will be like on the computers, so it sounds good. Just make sure that as well as practising the test, you get the SKILLS in English that you need to be able to get not just a good score, but a great score! Keep us informed, Have fun, Paul

Dear Greeny, Honestly,i did not take any preparation.I just reads book and ask those who used to take it. Just want to tell you that it is not easy but you must try the best. Experience showed that note takings are very very important. For other stategies, just follow the ETS book. Best Regards, Kanal
