Hey guys,  Cheesy

Some of you may be nervous about your IELTS exam coming in the next few months. Remember to keep confident and know your enemy. This means try to find out as much as you can about the test and what skills you require in order to be successful!

Here is an outline of dos and don't for the IELTS test day...Read through it so that you know what to expect when you arrive at the test centre.

The IELTS test always starts with Listening, so make sure you are On-time! After Listening comes Reading, which starts immediately after the Listening is finished. After Reading you get a 10 minute break, BUT you cannot leave the exam room or move from your seat. Then comes the Writing and that is the end of the test. The Speaking takes place at set appointments usually on the same day in the afternoon.

Things to remember!!

You MUST bring with you

Proof of your identity which is the same as the identity information you provided on your application form. It must contain a number, a signature, a date of birth and a photograph.
The pens, pencils and erasers which you need for the test.

Arrive on time

You may not be allowed to take the test if you are late.
Know the date, time and place of your test and arrive before the starting time.
If you arrive late, report to the supervisor.

You must NOT bring into the test room the following items:

Correction fluid and highlighters.
Mobile phones and pagers. They must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor. If you do not switch off your phone/pager, or take it in with you, you will be disqualified.
Anything else which the supervisor has asked you to leave outside the test room.

During the test you MUST

Listen to the IELT test supervisor and do what you are asked to do.
Tell the supervisor if you think you have not been given the right question paper, or if the question paper is incomplete or illegible.
Read carefully and follow the instructions printed on the question paper and on the answer sheet.
Fill in the details required on the front of your question paper and on your answer sheet before the start of the test.
You may not lend anything to, or borrow anything from, another candidate.

During the test you MUST NOT

Attempt to cheat, copy the work of another candidate or disrupt the test.
Use, or attempt to use, a dictionary, pager, spell-checker, electronic recorder or mobile phone for the duration of the test.  Any candidate doing so will be disqualified.
Talk to or disturb other candidates once the examination has started.
Smoke, eat or drink in the examination room.
Reproduce any part of the test in any format/medium. Any candidate doing so will have their test results disqualified and be liable to prosecution.
Remove any materials used during the examination. This includes, but is not limited to, examination papers, answer papers and working paper.

Advice and assistance during the test

Notify the test invigilator immediately if test day conditions in any way impede your performance.
If you are in doubt about what you should do, raise your hand to attract attention.  The supervisor will come to your assistance.
You may not ask for, and will not be given, any explanation of the questions.
If on the day of the test you feel that your work may be affected by illness or any other reason, you must inform the invigilator at the time.
Leaving the test room

You may NOT leave the test room without the permission.

You can not leave your seat until all papers have been collected and you have been told you can leave.

When you leave the examination room you must leave behind the question paper, your answer paper, any paper used for rough work clearly crossed through and any other materials provided for the test.

Do not make any noise near the examination room.

WARNING

If you are caught infringing any of the candidate rules and regulations your test result will be disqualified and notification of your disqualification will be sent to any receiving institution or professional body.

 Hope that helps,

 Have fun,

 Paul
