Hi everybody, Cheesy

Recently, I have encountered a small question myself.

What is the difference between " important to Vs. important for"?
Could anybody help me with this?
Example : This website is important for me.
This website is important to me.

Thank you in advance!  Cheesy

for, Benefactive: the entity that benefits from the action
to, Goal: the entity towards which the activity is directed to

Eg: It's important for students to study English every day.
It's beneficial for students, if they study English.

Eg: It's important to me that he reads my novels.
(the goal)

Eg: It's imortant for me that he reads my novels.
I will benefit from his reading my novels.

I think it would be one reason.  What do you think Ms. Keo???

Your explanation of these two phrases is perfectly acceptable.

Thank you!

Hi Sarath,

I have watched it and found nothing wrong in it.   The reason is that you are my teacher. I find it beneficial for you to help me, so at the same time you can remind yourself of English. (Only kidding)

Yer both examples: This website is important for me.
This website is important to me.

In the two above there is no different at all in meaning. Yet, important for in the above is informal use.

Look at the following sentences:

I think Mala's career is more important to her than I am.
It's important for children to spend money with care.

according to the both we can say important to is used to compare while the important for is used to make direct benefit.

But please remember that the structure: It's important for sb to do sth not important to sb to do sth(rarely use).

Have funsssssssss!
