Hi Sema Cheesy ,

I'm glad to see you here. I'm Kounila.

According to my experience, learning TOEFL is not really difficult. There are three important sections of TOEFL: structures & written expressions, listening comprehension and reading comprehension (or essay, as it's optional). You know, you first need to be trained for the ability to take a TOEFL test. So I think you also need a good teacher to teach you to know how to do it! And enough materials are necessary for the process of learning it, for instance, the books to practice each section and tapes to listen to in the listening section. I am sure that you will enjoy it if you do! Really, it's good for you to be a member here because I hope that Paul is going to help us all develop our English through this site. If you join the discussion forum regularly Cheesy .

I have been instructed that I should read, listen, speak and write a lot in order to improve my ability and enhance my test skills. And on condition that we have done all these activities well, we will be suitable for the test Cheesy .
Practice, practice, practice.

More ideas will be appreciated Smiley !

Hi there  Cheesy

I agree with Somala, learning TOEFL is not really difficult! It's just like u learn everyday English. The difficulty is taking the TOEFL test, isn't it?

How to make it easy? Preparation- we have to be prepared before taking the test. Thus, we have to take TOEFL class, do self- study and practice.

Pratice makes perfect!

More ideas will be welcome!

Hi Sema Cheesy ,

Glad you are back again. Well, I think there are a lot of good TOEFL books to practice. Each has its own great advantages. I have just gone through a few books which are for practice. So, i would apologize for the fact that I cannot think of a good book for you Cheesy . How about asking your teacher about that? But I believe that there are many good ones on sales and what you should do is practice well on it.

I feel your English is very good. Essay writing will not be an obstacle for you if you understand how to do it Cheesy. (Vocabulary, Grammar & Methods)

Take care.
Hope you'll make it!!!

Hi alls!!!!!!!!

I really appreciate all of your ideas and experiences indeed.

But i think you alls still lack of one thing that extremely critical.

You all mentioned mostly about your knowledge, dIdn't you?

i concede that it is true, but can you imagine what you will be if your mind is not clear, i mean you are not prepared your mind well, like lack of sleeping...

to sum up, it is very important for us to prepare our mind well on the exam day.

Hi Chesda  Smiley

I think if you want to do better in the structure section, you have to bury yourself in gramma books, that means, strive to read and analyze the sentence structure as much as you can. Befriend with grammar book!

Just some ideas

Hey Jupiter and all here,

That's the best way I think and I've once told someone about it too, but do you know what I was asked? What can I do if that makes me feel really bored and it gets me into a lazy world of reading (grammar books)Huh   . I was stucked then, having nothing to reply...

Actually, I myself also find it that way.
What should I have told him? Sad

Hi Prasoeur  Smiley

It's great to get ur response. You have pointed out a really fantastic issue.

I think the cure for this illness is to read with purpose, that is, we should have a goal in mind when reading. For example, we want to know the usage of YET as in the sentence " the time is yet to come " Thus, when we open grammar book, we should focus only on The unit which related to the usage of YET.

Also, we should set our own target! What should we study today? Study about Present Perfect or Adverb of Frequency? Decide what we want to learn today so that we have a specific destination which is waiting for us.

Just some ideas

Hi all,

Grammar enables us to reduce our mistakes. Of course, there are just so many uncountable things in each grammar book. It's kind of boring reading from page to page. But as Jupiter said, reading with a particular purpose, we will not end up bored with it. For example, you want to check the uses of 'kind of/sort of/type of', so you go to the back page and find what page the uses of them are in. Look at them and learn from them! That way, you will not have to look other irrelevant points. Cheesy

Have fun!  Cheesy

Hi Jupi & Nila,

Oops, I can't believe that the answer which I'd climbed the mountains, downed the rivers to get is this one. I really have no idea why I couldn't find him this easy solution. Shocked . You know, I was really having a hard time thinking of the best way of studying for those who are lazy with reading. Hehehe, I must have been so stupid of that.

Anyway, thanks for your responses.
