SAVE TIME; SAVE MONEY!!!

A new library will open in early February. Users will improve their English rapidly and cheaply, utilizing modern up-to-date reading material, most of which has been sourced abroad and is unavailable in Cambodia. All material is graded by Level, and all relevant material is grouped together for easy access. Improve your General English and your Academic English. Get great, easily-understood source material for your university assignments.

Users will need to pay due to rent costs, security-staff costs and cost of the reading material. Further, there can be no photocopying because the material is all in folders, not books, so photocopying is impossible. Material cannot be borrowed as this is a reference library, and the material must be avilable to those in the library at the time.

The purpose of this library is to encourage self-discipline and excellence, and to foster a competitive attitude in the library. How much work you do will be relected in your improvement in the English language. We want disciplined and committed users who will push each other to genuine standards of excellence. Cambodia has outstanding students who lack the finances to reach their true potential in English. Using this library will enable IELTS scores of 6.5-7 and TOEFL marks of 560-620 to become a reality without the need to spend many hundreds of dollars and several years of your time. SAVE TIME; SAVE MONEY. For little more than $1 a week, you can have access to this outstanding reading material 7days a week, for hours every day.

If there is a demand, classes offering high-level Academic English for less than $1 an hour and taught by experienced foreign teachers will commence after April. Learn the vital topics for IELTS/TOEFL or learn the necessary writing, listening, reading, speaking techniques for the IELTS exam (AFTER your English is good enough to make a score of IELTS 6.5-7 a reality: anything less than that mark is a waste of your time). Or, learn the elementary business vocabulary and concepts (business, economics, accounting) that you will need to know before you even contemplate starting a university course in business taught in English.

Genuine, international-standard universities are coming to Southeast Asia. Under the new Free Trade Agreement, Australian and New Zealand universities are planning to open campuses in the region. Ho Chi Minh City will host Victoria University of Wellington which is scheduled to open its Vietnamese campus sometime in 2006.You will not be able to begin a Bachelor Degree at the proper universities with less than IELTS 6 (IELTS 6.5-7 is preferable). But as well as a sufficient IELTS/TOEFL score, you absolutely must have a core knowledge of your field of study in English, and that is another reason why this library will be of crucial necessity to you. The highest failure rate among first-year students at Australian universities is among those who arrive with only an IELTS score. What has your IELTS preparation taught you in English about Agriculture or the Human Body (medicine/Nursing) or Engineering or Management or Economics? ... Nothing!  You need to get that basic vocabulary and the basic concepts BEFORE you start your degree, and this new library will give them to you at almost zero cost.

The fee to use the library will be $4 for the first month as an introductory special. After that, users will have to pay $12 per two months, a cost of about $1.40 per week, but the library will be open 7 days a week (weekend hours open later and close earlier, only 8am-3pm Saturday and Sunday).

The library will be in a quiet location near the Independence Monument. For the first month it will be in a smallish room, so membership will be limited to the first 50 to apply. A larger room will be available later. An open day will be held prior to to the February opening to enable potential users to see what material is available and to decide if they wish to join or not.
