These answers are correct, but they won't imply into Cambodian economy. The only reason is, We TAX the oil in high rate. lolz

Please remember Denith, The Government is unable to increase or decrease the price of any imported goods as himself, if the year doesn't end yet. I mean that every years, MOC-Ministry Of Commerce- set the Government incomes and expenditures policies, so even the price of gas or oil is set from the begining of the year. Accordingly, if the price of gas or oil increases during the year, he cant do anything.

If in rich countries, for example Malaysia, when the price of the gas or oil take off, he subsidize by asking the gas-sellers to sell as normal price and then the increase one would be gotten from the government!! This from what I know since I am an inept economician!!

Kimlong

Aw... then, should come to consideration! Should they have decreased the tax earlier? Because, Haven't they foreseen the rising up of the crude oil? And, is there only "oil" and "crude oil" imported to Cambodia? Okay, is it really a fixed tax rate to be taken all over a year? What field of "economic" are you specialize in? To the heck is the discovery of "crude oil" in Cambodia affects the price of "oil" selling in Cambodia in the future?

Mind you, Denith, Cambodian economy is closely linked to political status, so the Gov't does everything in order to make up a good GDP percapital look higher. If he reduce tax rate it affects the yearly income, as a result it leads to decrease the GDP per capital ratio!

I don't major in Economic course, but I work in Economic and Statistic Department (NBC).

Its true that the price of the oil is climbing and no measure is introduced to put a stop to it and lower the price.

By the way, I know that this would impact the people all over the world, because most of the nations are globalized and so as its economics.

I agree with you, Denith. Our economics has been globalized and can be easily influenced by the outside economics. Now, I am suggesting you all to look at the inflation in other countries or the oil price increase in our neighbouring countries and compare.

I know that price of petrol increases due to lots of reasons, and also many other products which cause a great inflation, but what I wonder why our inflation rate is much higher than our neighboring countries and in the region? Huh

Yes I want to know the reason as well. In US, everything is also increased in price. But in Cambodia, a developing country, always keep being well on top of rate. We just can look to the problems but no solution.  Undecided
