To all 5steps members and Teachers

I have some problems with my listening skill and i now desperately need your assistance. To be honest, i have tried to listen to english news on tv for many times but i almost get nothing from what i have heard. On the other hand, when i talk to native speakers in person i can catch a lot what they are talking about. Is there any difference between speaking face to face and listen to tap or tv? I really wonder why. thanks beforehand for your advice.

summer wishes you all.

Hi Summer,
Listening to radio or tv it's a bit hard to understand cos they speak too fast and cant repeat but keep doing that just spend only one hour per day (when you listen to that news i think you should buy newspaper that say about it to read it's much easier for you to understand)

Speaking face to face, it's easier as you know you can understand by their experession and so on so keep practice

Listening Skill? Hah I'm a good one at it.... Oppss just kidding Embarrassed

The way people talk on tv and face to face (WITH U) is quite different.

I think you just try it from time to time dear...
Maybe you should watch with your interesting program which is English is spoken. Why needed an interesting program? Well, in order not to make u feel bored with what they're talking about.

Not just to turn on tv whatever English channels. Some channels or shows make me headache as well.
For ex- the channel that show about Hangsheng or sth... but u gonna like it after u buy shares.. ha!ha!

What do u think all above?  Roll Eyes

Hello summer!

I have come up with some idea about Listening Skill.

Well, why does listening to the news or TV program differ from having conversation face to face?
I think while you are having conversation with someone, you also are keeping your attention on their words or the way they speak. And that's the reason why you can catch up everything about them. However, while you are listening to the news which you are not really interested in, you may feel bored and pay less attention to that. That's it! You got nothing.

And as many of people above have already said about how to improve your Listening Skill, I'm not gotta state any comments because their comments are all fabulous.

Well, hope that my idea surely helps you with your doubt.

have fun ;-)
