Hi everyone here,

I'm maybe a new comer. Now I am not clear about how to pronunce the verbs in past which are ended in -ed.
So could you please give me some rules that we use in this? I really need help.

Thank a lot, Smiley

Some basic guidelines:

If the verb ends in

[1] t or d, te or de the past tense suffix -ed is pronounced [Id].
[2] b, v, w, m, n, l, r, z, y, g, the past tense suffix -ed is pronounced [d].
[3] p, f, s, sh, k, x the past tense suffix -ed is pronounced [t].

That didn't come from any particular source- most grammars will talk about voiced and unvoiced consonants.  However, if you want a decent language and grammar source, I would highly recommend investing in a copy of 'Practical English Usage' by Michael Swan (Oxford University Press).   Grin

Hey, Chantha! At first, I also got difficulties in learning, but my friends told me,don't care about this because it is only speaking so that the main point is to make your partners understand your word. please don't care, you will do it well if you try to speak English. Keep learning na. Goodbye
