Hi, Paul and all the members! Tongue
I'm appreciate that i can post a topic about reading. I find out that reading is the most difficult one in the IELTS, because i couldn't finish on time and couldn't understand some vocabularies in the tasks. Therefore, what can i do in order to improve my Reading skill? Smiley

most people (me also) find reading is the most difficult part in ielts or toefl.
the BIG problem is vocabulary, right? so to be good at reading i think we must improve our vocab. how can we improve it ? many people said u should read, read and read to enlarge ur vocab. so to improve ur reading is to improve ur vocab and to improve ur vacab is to read more, right?

So, there is only ONE WAY to improve ur reading is to READ!
that all for me

ANY ONE want to share this problem to soulybanh, me and others, just DO IT now!           share ur ideas now

hey guys,  Cheesy

a tip for improving your vocabulary is to study basic Prefix, Root, Suffix as these help you a lot with Academic Vocabulary. The reason for this is that a lot of big words, academic words in English actually have their origins in Latin and Greek. So therefore if you know some of the common prefix, root and suffix it can give you the tools to help you guess some of the words you don't know.  Cheesy

For example, conjunction

con
com
co    ( origin Latin : together )

junct ( origin Latin : join )

ion (suffix indicating part of speech is a Noun )

conjunction ( general meaning is something that joins together )

So even if you don't know the word exactly you can guess the general area of meaning by using this method. I am working on posting some of the common prefix, root and suffix in the content section of this website, so keep loggin in.  Cheesy

have fun,
