Hello, Of course, reading helps you improve your english. I am talking about reading, and not reading test. Do you think reading something that you have read before will help you learn more? Or in order to learn something, you have to keep reading new stuff?

Yes sure, Greeny!! Reading is , as well as listening, very useful for us. I mean it can improve or promote our general knowledge na. Esp, we can be aware of such local and international imformation, which they are very useful for us to share or make a speech sometime.
Can you imagine? For instance, one can speak English fluently and can use hundreds of hundreds words. And then one time, he have to participate in a workshop or simina, let say current social problems; unfortunately, he has no concept or notion about the topic due to never does he read any books, newspapers, magazines and so forth. Do you believe he can speek fluently like he always does? I dare say no!!
To brief, reading is such vital thing for one to practice if he actually want to be a good speaker!!
Just idea!! Kimlong

Hi,Kimlong and Greeny!
I think that if we are facing everything in English like reading, writing, listening and speaking all the time, our English will be improved surely. So, Why do not let ourselves explore and interact with those things. Here I mean it does not only worth reading but also interact with everything in English.

That's true, Heangda!! That every material of English concerned is important and useful for English language learners. Why we talk focusing on reading due to this section is the reading one na!! Anyway, do you check the day we start learning at our school? RULE, I mean. I think Reading help get idea to what we are going to talk and what we are going to write.
Sure Tola! Yet it is also handy for use to make accurate decision. Kimlong

Hi, Kimlong,
Since this page is for reading, I think we're better discuss about strategy for reading. Do ya have any ideas about how to read during the test like Toefl, and IELTS. Also, How can we do to improve the comprehension while we are reading academic texts or articles. Besides, I have heard about scaning and skimming. Do ya know what is the best way to do this cos some people they know the meaning of scaning and skimming, however, They still cannot do well on the test.
For Greeny I personally think that we should read new text instead of the old one. Why? cos with new text we will explore a wide range of vocabulary and sentence structures. Also, we will get more new ideas and familiar ourselves with different kinds of article which will be very useful for us to build our background for reading.
Anyway, our university will start on 25th Sep. How's about you? will ya join the last year with our friends or not? I hope you will be with us cos you're such a friendly and outstanding student.
Bye Heangda

Of course, I agree with you that reading new stuff helps you a lot. Anyway, sometimes when I read something I had read already, I found that I learn something new too. I could understand phrases and words that I didn't know at first. What do you think about this? And when doing a reading test, I always find it helpful to read the questions first. By reading the questions, I can get some idea about the text which happens to be rather useful. Greeny

Hi Greeny,
I see your points, However, I still recommend you to read new things more than the old staff because when you read the old articles again, it sounds like reviewing or revising. Although revision does help you to have better understanding of the text, it doesn't build your background of reading. Also, you don't have a chance to explore new terms, structure and ideas. To balance this, I think you should spend time to read a text only two times. For example, today, you read about Water Polution and you should read it again next week. However, if you cannot catch the main points from a text and the text is extremely important for exam or so, then it will be better to reread it more than twice.
Just simple ideas Heangda

Altho, we have such very fantastic methods, skim and scan, I dare say, they are just a theory that provides for only the clever or good-understanding-reading persons to promote their band or score more easy. Yet, for ones whom they are not good enough are still found it difficult to gain and get high score by using these methods!! What I suggest is that " Please do self-reading test regularly before starting testing the real one if one wants to promote his or her Toefl or IELTS score". Practice makes perfect!! Anyway, our university will start on 25th Sep. How's about you? will ya join the last year with our friends or not? I hope you will be with us cos you're such a friendly and outstanding student.Bye Heangda Wow! Why it expands so long!! Last day I was told it is on 15th this month na! Anyway, I do join our terrific class, but I expect to be crazy or fail hundreds of hundreds subjects ; however, i'm still happy !!! Once again, thank for you sweet admiration!! Kimlong

Wow! you're extremely dedicated and determined. I am not wrong to praise you that you're such great and outstanding student . Am I right? I feel very sympathized of you. Anyway, your deeds are great. You know, you are strongly effortful to study two universities. Also, you have a very fantastic job to do and your future will be brighter. For most students, they can not afford to study two uni like you. What's more, it's very shameful of them that they're not employed. I feel that every one have their owns luck and speciality Just try of your best man! you'll be successful! I am used to feel like you too. Let me tell you: well, when I first came to PP and studied at RULE. I knew nothing about university courses. Then I failed one subjects. you know what it is, Basic Computer, that was about MS Word and Excel. I was very upset and disappointed about myself cos I used to be a great student. The reason is that I dont know English especially Computer terms. I felt very shameful to tell my friend. Ok, I think that's it. I will see you soon.

That's a lucky of me that I have a chance to get to know you, Heangda!! Yes, last night I read a great book, talking about all most of world-successful men's notions and visions. In that book, I found a phrase saying "One will never be succeed if he doesn't know what a failure is" and " One will never know what is victory if he never fails". Since I have read that great book, it seems to build up my confidence of not to afraid of failure. I honor to get everything I deserve to. Anyway, I am elated to have a talk to you. See you then!!
