Hi Jupi et al.!!!!

Trillion thankssssss for your suggestion about this abbreviation (et al)

This word derives from the Latin word " et alii or et alia " and it means " and other people or things".

Great research Jupi, yet your using this word have a problem is that the period always go along with this word "Et at."

Anyway, welcome more novelty or obsolete words.

Kimlong

PS: Sorry Jupi that I am yet to give your toefl book back, on account of my friend's borrowing. Oh the very thing that I am seriously sorry is that I left you without telling you. It means now I have changed to morning class on the ground of the time study at RULE. Please convey my word to Mino that I am sorry and absolutely miss you both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad

Prasoeur,
As you asked for how to do to be good at giving full words to the abbreviations, what I can tell is that it's really about:
1- Are u curious :?: enough to find out what it really stands for when u see an abbreviation, based on self research or asking ppl, you should try to seek the full words. Dont just let it pass u by.
2- How often :?:  you see the abbreviation. Again and again when u see it, it'll easily come to ur mind what it is.
3- How well :?: you remember it. Some people really have a good memory. They are able to store new words although they first see them. If you are this type of person, then you wont have worry Wink

Though, it's not necessary to remember all the abbreviations as some of them wont be applied in our need of usage. You just need to remember some that you might think are important.

Note that some response I posted to above abbreviations are retrieved from the search engine as I dont have a good memory storage for them

To Kimkong,

I am a person who take constuctive criticism easily but not at all time. Thus I want to refute your statement that I used the word et al with the wrong punctuation.

You know we have two ways to write abbreviation. One is with period/full stop (a.m. / p.m. / Mr. / Mrs. / U.S. / e.g., etc). The other is devoid of full stop/perriod (am / pm / Mr / Mrs / US / eg, etc.)

Tell me which one do you prefer?

Jupiter

PS. No worry for that but I hope to get the book back asap!
Please come and visit us sometime, OK? Take care!
