Dear frens,
in my personal view, i think speaking is pretty hard for me becoz everytime i come to speak, i tend to run out of ideas, therefore, i ended up repeating my ideas often. Although i obtain 7 for my speaking, i think that it is not a score that i should get coz it seems to me that i don speak very well. What should i do to be a good speaker? i used to give a speech at my school once, and i felt that i like it a lot coz i could get an experience of wat i wanna say. however, i memorise my speech before i give a talk to my audiences. i am not nervous anymore, i feel confident in speaking. Nevertheless, i wanna speak to audiences and think of what to say right on the spot. i don wanna memorise everything like i used to do. therefore, i am seeking advice for tips for speaking. :?:
thanks in advance!!!!!! Tongue
hope to see u guys again soon........

u must have a clear topic n understand fully about what u're gonna say.Try listen to foreign music n movies as often as u can.
Take a pubilc speaking if u want to learn more about speaking (that's probably the best advice) cuz u'll know lots of tips n u can practice speaking as well.

Hey bunkheam

Public speaking can help you if you have to make speeches and formal speeches, but it that is connected with formal structures and outlining an argument. It is useful to some extent, but it is not really proper preparation for ielts or general communication fluency with foreigners.  It is useful, but don't be disappointed you missed it, there are other ways to learn speaking better, which will be posted on this website soon

Public speaking is one way, but it is not the only way. I have written an unpublished document on speaking grammar with confidence and that allows you to speak with confidence and fluency and is more to do with general conversation rather than public speaking, which is really designed for people who need to speak in public. Details will be on the website soon.

I can advise students who are interested in public speaking to buy the books which i have read on the topic, but it is not really relevant for students who are planning to go abroad or work with tourists and speak to foreigners. We can learn some formal speaking structures, but you lose the creativity and freestyle nature of speaking which makes it a special skill. I have lots of fun speaking Khmer, and i think making learning and speaking fun is much more effective than formal courses where you are being trained to be an after dinner speaker at a function rather than an effective communicator of English.

What does everyone else thinks....any practice is good practice though bunkheam, but watch this space, soon we will start our own speaking club for members and you will get some practice joining that once we get it
going!

Think about what you need, and then study what you need to know for when you need to use it!

Take it easy, make learning fun!

Dear all friend and ruby,

I think that speaking is not so hard if we try again and agi. Any way, I'll to give you some advice tip of speaking such as ruby problem and need some advice.

Firstly, Rub, you remeber or not when we were attended the seminar with paul last saturday at Mekong University. All of those were the tips of speaking, but on that day you look so borring and need to leave early.
Secondly, when you speak to any body please try to do all best until you run out of your idear.
Thirdly, you may need to read the books or any news witch relevent to the culture, cilmate, and history.

finally, I hop that you'll fell more confident with your speaking skill,

Good by,

Hi all, Cheesy

After reading all of the msg, I feel that all of the idea is extremely good. I don't have any good idea to share with all of you, but some common idea. To my point of view, the best way to improve speaking skill is doing a lot of speaking. Wherever you go, try to produce English as much as you can especially with your classmates or teachers. The things that we find it hard to speak is when we rarely do any practice.

To be honest,  Sad I am the one who is poor at speaking. I can listen to and understand what the speaker is intended to say but when I want to share some idea back, I find it hard to do. All the words are on the tip of my tongue. That is because I have never done any practice. I hardly ever speak even one word while I am learning English.

So that I want to share some idea with all of you: the more you speak, the more confident you are.

I am happy to get all feedback and share with all of you.

See you! Cheesy
