Dear Lil fixs, Cheesy

According to my memory :
-Linking verbs do not express action. Instead, they connect the subject of the verb to additional information about the subject.
Ex: Superman appeared happy to see Lois. (I just watched it last night and it was brilliant    )
Here, appeared is connecting the subject, Superman, to his state of mind, happiness.

-State verbs are verbs which aren't used in progressive/continuous forms.
-Here are some of State verbs:  agree, be, like, hate, hear, imagine, know, need, prefer, promise, realize, remember, see ...
-Some State verbs can be used in progressive forms when they have certain meanings (when they express actions).
Ex: -She has a lot of grammar books. (have here doesn't express action)
-She's having breakfast at 9.00 in the morning. (have here does)

-The city lies on the coast. (the city stands still and will never go anywhere)
-People were lying on the beach. (they're gonna back home soon ... )
That's it.

Goog luck,
Prasoeur

hi lil fixs and Prosoeur,

I've never heard of State verbs too! And I dont think i could understand ya explaination about the state verb at all Prosoeur!

Talk about Linking verbs, they are the words which use to connect sth to sth.

Hey, FANBOYS! ( I am not sure myself too if they are linking verbs???   )

Cheers,

kalyan

Hi Lil fixs and Kalyan,

I'm sorry guys that my explanation doesn't work. It may be difficult to understand. Actually, I'm not good at explaning.

Kalyan, state verbs are verbs that are not used in continous tenses. Its other name is Non-action verbs. Anyway, FANBOYS are conjunctions.

Lil fixs, to make it easier please follow kalyan's idea which is Linking Verbs are the words which use to connect sth to sth. Cheesy

 You'd better ask some more explanations from your teachers to make sure about this.
