hey sandy,
great to welcome you to the website, and thanks for your support. I am preparing some reading help for the content of the website, and it will be here soon. The easiest way to help you with vocabulary that you do not know in a reading passage is to have a basic understanding of Academic Vocabulary. These are the big words in English and are made up of Prefix, Root and Suffix. A basic knowledge of parts of speech in English and a knowledge of common Prefix, Root and Suffix can give you the tools to make reading a bit easier.
I know it is frustrating if you know all the words in a sentence except one and this means that you cannot understand the sentence! :? However, Academic Vocabulary is mainly based on Prefix, Root and Suffix which is the words in English which are formed from Latin and Greek words. So if you know some of these you can guess the general meaning of a word even if you don't know it exactly.
For example a word like...pyschologist
is actually 3 parts
pysche ( origin greek ) mind
ology (origin latin ) study of
ist ( suffix to mean a person who practises or believes in)
Therefore we can guess that a psychologist is a person who studies the mind. In the same way, psychology is the study of the mind!
Will have some common prefix, root suffix on the content part of the site soon, don;t give up hope!
have fun,
