it's not that easy to meet friends online!!! if you make friends in chat, you'll have to face various kinds of people!!
think before you leap!! better to get new friends in your trips or in any seminars/conferences..

yes, you are 100% right that if you have some foreign friends, it will definitely affect your accent...

let's see other's ideas on this.

Most of the foreigners living and working here will have the circles, and will socialise largely with the people they work with, etc, so if you don't make an effort to go to the places they go, you are unlikely to meet many of them (us- I am one).  When you say you have only met rude and unfriendly people, in what sort of situations did you meet them?  Wink

Derfinitely having a foreigner friend helps improve speaking skill and English accent. But if you can't find one, you also can get better at it by watching English News (CNN and BBC for example) and you might want to try to say the words you pick up a few times to familiarize yourself with them.

To speak English with good accent, we have to learn to say each word correctly. English is different from Khmer and French. We have to know where in a word to increase or decrease the tone and to speed up or slow down.
Yes, we gotta say one word correctly before we can have a well sounding sentence.
Don't RUSH, learn word by word. Listen alot. Speak to yourself alot in case you have no friend who wants to practice with you. Even better speak to yourself while you are looking at yourself in a mirror. Lip and Tongue movement is very important for speaking English.
Definitely, your lip movements should not be the same when you speak English as when you speak Khmer.

Hope you all, my friends, find this helpful.

Cheers,

Hi again,

Let me add something. If you want to get better at speaking English, you have to emerse yourself in the language.
Think about English while you're walking, sleeping, eating, skipping class, chatting, fighting, kaka-ing, peeing, and most importantly flirting because you want to give the girl GOOOD impression about your cool English accent speaking ability. She might even ask you to be her private tutor...(who knows what it's gonna be like...?)

By the way, IT depends on you, your enthusiasm and motivation in learning the language.
Believe me, the more you want the harder you work and the more attention you pay on every little detail you need to know to be a better English speaker.

OK???
Please let me know if i talk too much kaka in here.
Thanks,
