I'd say 'understand' because when you understand something you will remember it, but you can remember things you don't understand.

Dear learner Shocked

:-*As a matter of fact Iwould say"UNDERSTAND and REMEMBER" are the two traits that we, as human being, must have for every day life, education, and profession. Without remembering how you can recall information, data or espisodic events. For example, while you were learning English grammar, let say"PRESENT SIMPLE", you thoroughly understood that. Unfortunately,as the time flies you might be no more clear. This account for the fact that you fail to REMEMBER. Similarly, without understanding how we can well encode or rigister data or information into the memory storage, the brain. For instance, again, you are learing "PRESENT SIMPLE" you don't even understand the use and meaning of the target item. Personally presuming, we understand then remember.

One more again, we shall firmly hold these qualities as they are the ingredients for survival Wink

MINO's willing to adhere himsefl to your problem!

Well, Understand and Remember...
I would say that:
If you Understand something means that you are able to know the reason or the cause of something and you are able to recall it back in another way by your own words.

And.. If you remember something means that you are able to keep that information in your memory and you are also be able to recall it back whenever you need.
That's it!

For example, you may have to remember the History Lesson, whereas you have to understand the method to solve Mathematic exercise. See how different they are?
Hopefully, my idea will clearify your doubt,Tola!
Have fun

Hi there!!

I would say remembering and understanding are the crucial things to conduct during studying even in working!! Yet, What you have to do is that you should use the both in the right circustance! See what Nit mentioned:
