Hello everyone! My name is Thika. Nowaday I'm FANDABBIDOZY.
I think that word is fantastic. I like it as well. My problem today is the pronunciation.
Can you answer my question?
What is the difference between the phonetic symbols: "v" and "w"? How to pronounce them? I hope you friends can answer my question properly.

I think "W" should be pronounced "double V" rather than "double U".  Cheesy

In the dictionary pronouns /'d/\blju:/

Some people pronoun /'d/\bl/ /ju:/ ,but other pronounced i
/'d/\b/ /lju:/ .

Well, people may make fun of George W. Bush

Hello,

Actually, you know that I'm not a native speaker of English.
But I'd like to tell what I learned.

"V" has a different pronunication from "w" when they both form words. When you pronounce "verb", your lip sides move apart a bit and when you pronounce the word "word", your lips become small/move forward a bit.

That is the great idea Karma for me i work a lot with native speakers and i know how to do with the lips but that is to hard to saparate the different pronunciation of both but we would rather understand the meaning than the pronunciation I think you should not worry much about it because we are not native speakers are we?

Your name are pretty similar to one of my former classmate, cheyrithika. Wondering if you are her or not. Well, to pronunce v is pretty similar to f. F is unvoiced, while v voiced. Touch your top teeth with your bottom lip, and breath out. Don't use your voice, then u get f. Hold the sound, and add your voice, then you get v. For w, make the sound /u:/, followed by the sound... (i don't know how to type that symbol, but just turn e upside down, then you get it. It is similar to the sound,a. Hope anyone help me type this). Now put the sound together, and keep the sound short, then you get w.

That's the difference. I take it from How to Teach Pronunciation by Gerald Kelly page 55.
