I have Longman Language Activator Dictionary and OXFORD Collocations which are the auxiliary tools helping students to acquire a sound knowledge of using words quite correctly in any situation in terms of English contexts.
The problem for some students?which also happens to me?is that they know many words in English, but are unable to be familiar with how to use those correctly. For example, they may know the words such as: admit, confess, acknowledge, etc., but when and for what are they used?
It seems to me that a possible solution to this is that the 2 dictionaries are the choice. And, it might be a good idea to notice (whether by reading, listening, & discussing) how and when words in English are used by the native English speakers.
However, when I try to learn the words I have already known in these 2 dictionaries, I do not really know where to start?that is to say?which word I should first be clear at.

I would appreciate it if any student and the teaching team could help offer some recommendation and worthwhile experience regarding my message.

Thanks a million!

Hey, it happens to me too Cheesy. When you meet one person at the first time, can you remember their face and their name very well? Cheesy Then the answer is also with this.

When you use the words you have already known for the first, you may not feel really sure about it but you want to express your thought specificially. To be completely confident with the words you use, you should at first see a lot of usages or examples of the words such as : admit, confess, acknowledge....

You admit sleeping in the class during the lessons. (declare to be true or admit the existence or reality or truth of )
You confessed to stealing money in front of the police.. (=admit)
You acknowledge that life is full of change. Cheesy.(declare to be true or admit the existence or reality or truth of )
As we notice, these three words have the same meaning in one way according to www.onelook.com. But we have to notice their uses in other ways too. That's to say, see examples of the words when they mean something different.

These examples, as I feel, are not enough to make us users understand them fully. You need to learn more about them. But you need no worry over this because this is confronted by non-native speakers of English and repeated work and practice can help reinforce your clear understanding.

Yeah, you are right. You have the answer, you see. Cheesy Practice, practice, practice. You know, English is a wonderful language because whatever word among the three words you use, any word still means the thing you want to say Cheesy. That's how English works for you and me! Cheesy
Finally, I hope that everybody here will offer their experience with you.

Have fun.Cheesy
P.S. Sokret, don't forget to introduce yourself na.

Try http://view.byu.edu It's a site that will give you hundreds of examples of a word in use, so you can enter any word (it has a database of millions of words) and see examples of genuine usage. ;-)
