Good day guys, Cheesy

It's been maybe two years and a half that my confusion has lasted about the diffirences between GIRL, WOMAN & LADY; BOY & MAN and something more like SPEAK, TALK & SAY ...

I think I might have used all these words correctly these years, but I may not have been sure about them ...

Please help me figure this out!

Thanks in advance,
Prasoeur

I am not 100% sure about the use of all the above words. Yet, having observed to the general use I have some concepts as the below:

Girl: is used for general like:
-Singl ( young age)
-During the age of teenager
-For the one who you love most ( my wife= my girl, my gf= my girl or my darling)
-use for the stranger or the close friends ( I use to call Mala girl). it means that I do not know do Mala single or whatelse.

Woman: is broadly used for general and refered to:

-married or unmarried status
-quite old age
-used for strager who looks old
-used in the law article ( womens' right day)

Lady is used for:

-mostly married person
-refers to the well-off or educated person
-a polite word used in any giving speech ( Hi ladies and gentlemen)

Man and Boy is sound similar to Girl and Woman usage.

Speak is usaully used to mean having coversation with sb can be one person or many.

Talk is sound like reply or have a conversation with sb esp, between two people. Ex: I asked the 5spets members to answers my RP questions but they don't talk/ reply to me. Or I had a talk with Jupi yesterday.

Say is commonly use in reported speech or used with oneself speaking meant tell or give advice. Ex: PB said we would be had a party by this year. Or I say to myself not to be lazy.

Just ideas!

Hello all, esp. Prasoeur  Cheesy

Prasoeur, we are in the same boat! But let me try my best to shed some light on this trouble.

1/ girl = young woman
2/ woman = a female adult
3/ lady = woman (more polite)

4/ boy = young man
5/ man = male adult

6/ speak = say words; have conversation with sb.
eg. I spoke to Bopha yesterday.

7/ talk = say words; speak to sb.
eg. I talked to Bopha yesterday.

8/ say = pronounce words; express/state opinion, thought, fact, etc.
eg. I said goodbye to Bopha yesterday.

Hope this helps.

Jupiter

PS. I can't differentiate between speak and talk either. Why not share some ideas then?

Hi there,

Thank for your question and good replies. I have only one related to speak, talk, and say.

Speak, and say are the same it means you can speak, alone or speak to someone or speak to the group of people. Say I never hear anyone say to the public just speak to the public.

Talk, is use when you express ideas and discuss about something in group of two or more. You can't talk alone, I think.

That's it.

Enjoy!
