Hi Panhavuth
you have to guess the meaning of these words. I think there are two ways:
1st. Guessing meaning from context in sentences " when you try to guess the meaning of an unknown words ,you use the text surrounding the word"
For example, could i have a piece of bread? i missed breakfast and i'm simply ravenous. What does "ravenous" mean? ( Very Hungry )
2nd. Using grammar to guess word meaning " look at the grammatical structure of the sentence. It will tell you about the function of the word  as a none, verb, pronoun, adjective, or adjverb then you can guess the meaning "
For instance, the only person in the room was a doddering old man who didn't seem to understand our question.
Grammatical function of doddering : AdjectiveMeaning                                      : Weak old man  Smiley

dear all guys

I want to advise you to study more about prefix and suffix, and roots. What are their importances?

1. Those two additional help create new words. Like possible + (Suffix) ability = possibility
We add suffix when we want to add meaning to that word and/or change its part of speech. For example:  Forgive (verb) + ness (suffix) = Forgiveness (noun) (change of part of speech)
For prefix, is resemble to suffix only of its position to the word. Prefix is added before the word while suffix is added after the word.
Imagine you encounter a word "Infuriate"... Can prefix and suffix help you? YES:
Elaboration: Its original word is "Fury" : Anger, rage...
Prefix "in" has been added to intensify the meaning of the word "Fury" plus suffix "iate" has been added to change its part of speech into verb. So "Infuriate" means to make someone feels angry.

   Got it?

2. Roots
Roots is quite different from suffix and prefix, and hard to perceive, but very essential.
Example: Look at this group of words: Import, Export, Deport, Transport. What comes to your mind?
Those things imply some kind of action: to move. I think you should check dictionary for its meaning you will see.
So Roots has its common meaning but NOT SAME meaning. So try to understand its inside meaning.

3. There is also one more method: words like "Crush, Smash, Crash..." they end with "ash or ush" and they got similar aspect: harsh things. Check dictionary and imagine. Sp, even this kind of tricks work. Try to learn it.

I'm not good at explaining and i hope those who understand my intention would helps me out.
