Hi Lg_makara, Grin

As far as I can remember, there are so many sentences in English.  Grin But we choose to group all of them together.

Kinds of Sentence:
1. Positive & Negative sentence (Statement) e.g. I am a student.
2. Interrogative Sentence e.g. Do you understand?
3. Exclamatory Sentence e.g. What a hard question you asked!
4. Imperative Sentence e.g. Do come here! Cheesy

These are just kinds of sentences and they just show the attitudes/meanings of the sentences.

But when you refer to the patterns of sentence, you need to focus on the kinds of verbs in English.
I can give you some patterns of sentences.

1. Subject + LV + noun or adjective
2. Subject + IV (intransitive verb) + (adverb)
3. Subject + TV (transitive verb) + object
4. Subject + TV + Object 1 (IO=indirect object) + DO (Direct Object)
= Subj. + TV + DO + prep (to or for) + IO
5. Subject + TV + Object (DO = direct object) + OC (Object Complement = noun/adjective/prepositional phrase)

Ex: I am happy. (1)

     She walked (quickly). (2)

     They like me. (3)

Dara gave me  some money. (4) = Dara gave some money to me.
She bought me a car. = She bought a car for me. (4)

They consider me hard-working (adjective). (5)
They call me a coward (noun).

*** Mixed condition refers to the conditional sentences of different orders.
      Usually the conditional sentences are:
1. If subject + present simple verb..., subj. + will verb...(future prediction)
2. If subj. + past simple verb..., subj. + would verb...(unreal present)
3. If subj. + past perfect verb (had + V3)..., subj. + would have V3...(unreal past)

But mix conditional sentences don't follow all these three orders.
Ex:    If everyone had learned English well, they would join your party too. ( In this situation, everyone didn't learn English well and in the present they don't join the party someone has invited them.)

Just some ideas! Hope you can ask me more.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Grin

Hi Mala!

Your explanations are great, Yet as I noticed, I found that you miss mentioning another conditional. It is Zero Conditional.

As I know, we generally have five forms of conditional sentences; they are zero, first, second, third, and mixed.

Sorry that i can't answer your first question, because i am not sure how many sentences the english grammar has. However, the second question, i think i can respond to you. Mixed condition is about the condition that we mix together in order to get one conditional sentence. It can mostly be mixed between second and third or the other way round. I hardly ever encounter the first or zero mixed together.
that's my idea about this question. i don't know whether or not you can accept it.

Hi Markara, Mala and Kimlong
The huge question on "how many sentence does English have ?" is beyod human's capability to answer. Even lexicographers of all kinds of dictionary appear to fail in giving answer to your question. Based on a linguistists' research" an introduction to language" human's ability to acquires language is innate or pre-wire and that we can produce infinite, unlimited, sentences as we want to.
The thing that we can justify on sentenc is only thier types, and Mala and Kimlong had completely and thoroughly raised.

To Makara, your question will orient us towards a certaint direction. And if you want to get satisfied response, make sure that your question is really what you want to ask.
