Hi Seangheng,

Don't worry because you're not alone. I think every student encounter that problem as you too. The reason for that is lack of concentration and lack of vocabulary. If your vocabulary power is fantastic, you'll find reading easier and vice versa. In some cases, you will not understand what you are reading at all if you mind doesn't concentrate on it fully.

Another reason is that you are uninterested in what you're reading, but this's not the case because whenever we take exam, we have to read the text even we don't like it or not.

Thus, I suggest you to find some time to burry yourself in the book and find out whether you lack vocabulary or concentration?

Just my idea

I have one suggestion for you that is try to observe your friend who is good at reading. What do they do? or if possible ask him or her directly for tips. If he or she willing to tell you, you are deemed lucky indeed ! So try it!

Hello Seangheng Global Moderator Jupiter Wink and Kannara,

Actaully, you're not interested at all in reading. Why don't you try to make it fun? I mean you should push yourself to enjoy it. But how? I don't think you are too old to like the story books, so get some to read at home. As for the books, you should choose the ones that have pictures like the Oxford books whose covers are all in black or whatever you like. Usaully, there is one picture in every 4 or 5 pages, so when you've read those 4 or 5 pages, you'll see the picture and the picture will explain about what you have read, so it is easier to understand the whole story. The more you catch up with it, the more you want to read.

Anyway, if you do this alot, you'll see that you understand most words, but you can't really translate them into khmer. Don't worry, because that's when you naturally become an English native reader. Cool

Just some idea,

used to think I had the answers to everything. But now I know, that life doesn't always go my way. So I must do something to get it to be the best one. All I have to do now is to get the best quality of learning English.
