Hi Mala, lyda and y'all here!!
Hey Mala you are hitting my head!
Your question is simple, yet it's difficult to answer.
Personally, I think WORD generally is used refer to every unit in the sentences or contexts, both the easy or the difficult one, while VOCABULARY commonly is used refer to the difficult one.
However,in case we say: we will learn new words/vocabularies from the story. In this sentence the two are the same.
Please look at the dic:
Word: is a unit of language that native speakers can identify
Vocabulary: is a language user's knowledge of words

Hi! Mala and kimlong.
When I have read kimlong's explantion, I can get some clue now. Well, Word mean the simple words and are not so difficult to understand. For example: words are; boy, girl, mother, father,.... But Vocabulary is a difficult word to get it meaning right. For instand, optimistic,...I'm sure when you learn the English for the first time, it might seem hard bcause you don't know the meaning of it so you have to check the dictionary.
Yes! that's it. I don't know it correct or not just my opinion. If I am wrong, please correct my mistake.
Now, bye bye. See you.

Hi all,
Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary says:
Word is a single unit of language which has meaning and can be spoken or written.
Vocabulary is #1 all the words known and used by a particular person. #2 all the words which exist in a particular language or subject.
As far as I understand, We use the term WORD to mean word in general and we use the term VOCABULARY to mean word in specific situation/subject. I don't agree that WORD means an easy or difficult word and VOCABULARY means a difficult word. It's difficult or not depends on the person who study/learn it. When you learn it the first time it's difficult but later on it's easy. Before the word 'beautiful, optimistic, consent...' are difficult for me but now it's a piece of cake.
Hope to get more ideas

Hi! Jupiter.
Well, I agree on you. We all understand those two things, Words and Vacabulary but we just have some difficulties in explaining it. Ok, I understand my mistake now. Thanks for your correction.
Someone said you are not the same the other so you are the Monster has!~~~ just kidding.
Best wish for you all, From Lyda.
